Expression of genes in the BnST that were significantly affected by age, hormone, or an interaction are shown. Significant main effects of age were found for Cyp19a1, Esr2, Kiss1r, Nos1, Oxtr, and Thra, all lower in aged than mature male rats. Oxtr also had a main hormone effect. Grm5 had a significant interaction of age and hormone, attributable to the mature-E2 rats having higher expression than the aged-E2 rats (*, p < 0.05).
