An upper critical nanoparticle size for faceting. The number of domains for the 2D cylindrical model is shown as a function of nanoparticle radius for two values of the potential width α, both smaller than for other results in this article. At the smallest value, α = 0.6, the number of domains is nonmonotonic in Rnp, with no faceting observed for Rnp ≳ 50. The number of domains was calculated using Monte Carlo simulations in which ϵ was gradually reduced to 30, with nb = 6.
