The reactor consisted of a perfusion chamber and two separate circuits for low and high glucose medium, each consisting of a pump, an oxygenator and a bubble trap. Two circuits were used to constantly circulate and oxygenate the perfusion medium and to ensure a fast switch from low to high glucose perfusion.
