Age-related changes of the mitochondrial network size and decline of Fis1 and Lon protease amounts during aging. The absolute size of the mitochondrial network was analyzed by immunofluorescence staining of the mitochondrial protein COX IV as described in the methods section (A; 50 cells were analyzed).
