Association of skeletal stress indicators with δ13C values. (A) Logistic regression modeling of association between physiological stress indicators (CO and PH) and the δ13C values in skeletal remains from Yangshao and Eastern Zhou. The presence of CO and PH is coded as one. (B) Females are overrepresented among Eastern Zhou skeletons with stress markers (CO and PH). Skeletal samples were dichotomized by the best diagnostic cutoff value of δ13C. A χ2 test was performed to compare the difference in the sex frequencies with δ13C values above and below the diagnostic cutoff in Yangshao and Eastern Zhou.
