Reaction mixtures containing 100 μM of either protocatechuate, syringate, syringaldehyde or vanillate were incubated in 50 mM Tris, pH 8 with or without 0.5 μM sLac for 48 h at 30 °C. The samples were acidified prior to HPLC analysis.
