The pattern is equal during encoding as well as during retrieval. The memory strength in this example ranges from 1 (weak) to 6 (strong). The figure shows that weak to middle strong (1–5) memories show a constant fMRI activation, where very strong (6) memories are associated with an extremely high fMRI activation in the HPC (according to [11]).
