Figure 7. Poleward movement and phenological shift in the warming period.

For each taxon, the movement of the range north and the shift in timing of the seasonal peak in abundance in the warming period of 1984–2008 are shown. The poleward movements are as reported in Fig. 4. The phenological shift is the difference in the timing of the seasonal peak of abundance over the same period. No significant correlations (P<0.05) were found: DIA P=0.5842, DIN P=0.1099, CEU P=0.2918, MP P=0.1594. CEU, Calanus, Euchaeta and Undeuchaeta; DIA, diatoms; DIN, dinoflagellates; MP, Metridia and Pleuromamma.
