Soluble factors secreted by EC can induce latent HIV infections in resting CD4+ T cells. Resting CD4+ T cells were cultured with or without EC in transwells and infected 1 day later with a GFP reporter virus. GFP-negative cells were sorted on day 8 postinfection and treated with or without PMA/I to reactivate latent virus (labeled as induced and uninduced, respectively). GFP was measured 2 days after PMA/I treatment. Samples were taken in duplicates, and means ± standard errors are plotted.
