Direct observation of Cmah transgenic embryos with CMV promoter. Fertilized mouse eggs were injected with purified plasmids encoding Cmah cDNA downstream of a CMV promoter and implanted in pseudo-pregnant mice. At E13.5 stage, 90% of embryos with Cmah transgene demonstrated abnormal phenotypes (A), including absence of eyes or decomposition of embryo as shown in B. n = 18.
