Metal slug assay. (a) Sterile stainless-steel slugs were placed in a 24-well plate. (b) Ten microliters of AAV1-SP-GFP-Cre was placed in the center of each slug and allowed to dry at room temperature for up to 6 days. AAV was reconstituted and added to rat primary cortical neuron cultures (DIV 6), along with AAV1-EF1α-DIO-mCherry. (c) Cells were imaged on DIV 15 for GFP fluorescence (green) or mCherry fluorescence (red). Images are representative of two independent experiments with two to three samples per experiment.
