Chromatin potentiates transcription. (A) To exclude the possibility that the enhanced transcription of chromatin was because of contaminants in the solution, purified PHO5 naked DNA was mixed with mock chromatin [the solution resulting from the same procedure as that used for the purification of chromatin, except starting from the yeast strain without sites for the R recombinase (ySH139)] (Table S2).
