The plot in (a) is for the platinum system and the plot in (b) is for the urease system. The platinum system used an agar gel soaked in 0.29 M H2O2 to create a reagent gradient, while the urease system used a gel soaked in 500 mM urea. Error bars are calculated by taking the s.d. of the speed of 30 particles in a viewing window.
