Characteristics of 364 healthy subjects. Data are mean ± SD or median (25th – 75th percentile), unless otherwise indicated. Blood samples were obtained from healthy subjects after an 8 hr fast. Plasma lipids and lipoproteins and RBC indices were measured by Quest Diagnostics as described in the Materials and methods. Continuous variables were compared between groups using ANOVA adjusted for age and gender, where appropriate and categorical variables were compared using chi-square tests. Variables with non-normal distributions were inverse-normally transformed before analysis.
