Demographics and clinical characteristics of blood donors. Blood samples were obtained from healthy subjects after fasting for at least 8 hr. ABO blood group and presence of Rh antigen was determined by Carter BloodCare as described in Materials and methods. Ethnicity, age, and gender were self-reported. Plasma lipids and lipoproteins and RBC indices were measured by Quest Diagnostics as described in the Materials and methods. Numerical values are mean ± SD.
