AmOmpA-coated beads bind to and are internalized by endothelial cells. Red fluorescent His-AmOmpA-coated microspheres (AmOmpA beads) were incubated with RF/6A endothelial cells. (A) Binding was assessed by immunofluorescence microscopy after 1 h. (B) To assess internalization, cells were treated with trypsin after 8 h, washed, adhered to coverslips, fixed, and screened with an anti-His tag antibody by immunofluorescence microscopy. Results are the means ± SD and are representative of three independent experiments done in triplicate with similar results. Statistically significant (**, P < 0.005; ***, P < 0.001) values are indicated.
