Fig 3. Influence of IL-6 on FLI1 methylation and gene expression in macrophages.

Fig 3

(a) and (b) compare percent FLI1 methylation in DNA from paired samples prepared from uninfected and 3 hour infected macrophages, respectively, with/without IL-6 as indicated. P-values are for the non-parametric Mann-Whitney tests comparing untreated and IL-6 treated macrophages. (c) Plots percent methylation against FLI1 gene expression for 3 hour infected macrophages treated with IL-6. Results are shown for Pearson’s correlation coefficients (r) and associated P-values are indicated for the number (N) of paired observations available. Lines were fitted using linear regression. (d) Compares FLI1 gene expression at 3 and 24 hours after infection, with/without IL-6 treatment as indicated. Results are plotted using Tukey Box and Whiskers plots. The band within the box shows the second quartile or median value. P-values are for the non-parametric Mann-Whitney tests.
