Intrinsic resistance of P. aeruginosa to lysozyme. Six different bacterial species were treated with 1 mg/mL lysozyme in 0.5 × LB for 16 h. Bacterial cells were enumerated by plating serially-diluted cells on LB agar plates. Each culture contained an initial inoculum of 1 × 105 cells. Bacterial cultures were repeated in triplicate, and the mean ± SD values are displayed. *P < 0.05 vs. CFU of untreated cultures.
