Fig. 1 — Sample selection. Blood samples from CRC cases and controls free of colorectal neoplasms collected in a screening setting (BLITZ) and from CRC cases collected in a clinical setting (DACHS⁺) were used. A selection of samples matched for sex and age were measured on the Illumina Infinium 450K chip. The final numbers of samples used for the current analysis, after the exclusion of three samples with unreliable measurements (QC, quality control), are indicated at the bottom
