Elevated urinary levels of nitrate (NO3) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in high-altitude Amhara but not Oromo. Low-altitude (open circles) and high-altitude (close circles) Amhara and Oromo healthy volunteers (men in blue and women in pink) were recruited. Amhara have significantly higher NO3 (A) and cGMP (B) levels at high vs. low altitudes, whereas Oromo do not.
