(A and B) Twenty percent of the sample contains individuals with the disease. (C and D) Fifty percent of the sample contains individuals with the disease resulting in a large oversampling of individuals with liability values just over the threshold. In A and C, the SNP does not have an effect on the disease and the frequency of the SNP is the same in each group. In B and D, the SNP affects the disease and a change in frequencies of the SNPs between the cases and controls is observed.
