Transfection of miR-21 mimic stimulates lipogenesis. Contents of labeled lipids in cells and culture media. HepG2 cells were transfected with miR-21 mimic or control mimic (25 nM) for 48 h. Cholesterol (C), cholesteryl ester (CE), triglyceride (TG), and phospholipid (PL) levels were measured after 24 h in cells (A) and media (B). The induction of genes encoding lipogenic enzymes was quantified using qRT-PCR analyses (C).
