Effect of H4 receptor activation on SOD activity in SNI mice. A decreased activity of the antioxidant enzyme MnSOD was detected in the spinal cord (A) and in the sciatic nerve (B) of SNI neuropathic mice. Treatment with the H4 receptor agonist VUF 8430 (20 μg) restored MnSOD activity. This effect was reversed by administration of the H4 receptor antagonist JNJ 10191584 (6 mg·kg−1 p.o.).
