Poly(A) signals and sites identified by EAnnot serve as anchors for genes. A total of 1704 (78.1%) poly(A) sites identified by EAnnot are mapped within 5 kb from the 3′ end of manually annotated chromosome 6 genes. Among the ones not mapped to manually annotated genes, 7.3% are mapped to EAnnot genes. Among those mapped to neither manually annotated nor EAnnot genes, 7.2% are mapped to Fgenesh or Genscan genes; 7.3% are not mapped to any genes identified by the above four gene prediction methods.
