Clinical examination of the diabetic foot and risk stratification.

Examination of the patients’ feet should include:
• Testing of foot sensation using a 10-g monofilament or vibration
• Palpation of foot pulses
• Inspection for any foot deformity and footwear
Based on this the foot should be classified as:
• At low current risk
• At increased risk
• High risk
• Acute foot / ulcerated foot / Charcot
