The molecules that we show to be differentially affected in IS (marked by an arrow) are related through multiple interconnected pathways, summarized in this figure. The results of our gene expression studies are confirmed by expected responses through these pathways. For example, BMP2 expression directly affects RUNX2, which in turn affects COX2 expression.
