Effect of oxymatrine (OM) on the expression of TGF-β1, pSmad2, PP38, Smad4 and PAI-1 proteins by western blotting. Western blotting demonstrated that the expression levels of TGF-β1 and PAI-1 protein were markedly increased in the UR group as compared to the FHC group. The expression of TGF-β1 and PAI-1 proteins was significantly decreased in the OR group as compared to the UR group. Western blotting also demonstrated that the expression level of Smad4 and the phosphorylation of Smad2 and P38 were markedly increased in the UR group as compared to the FHC group. The expression level of Smad4 and the phosphorylation of Smad2 and P38 were significantly decreased in the OR group as compared to the UR group. *P<0.05, **P<0.01.
