The nine candidates identified by our method were chosen to detect their outlier activity in colorectal cancer cell lines using q-PCR. Expression of these miRNAs was normalized against U6 snRNA expression. The statistical significance of differences between HCT116 and HT-29 cells was calculated using Student's t test. *p-value < 0.05, **p-value < 0.01, ***p-value < 0.001.
