Relative Zip8 and Zip14 protein levels in IL6 KO neural retinas treated with Holo- or Apo-Transferrin. Zip14, not Zip8, protein levels were modulated by Holo-Tf. Zip8 protein levels were unchanged after Holo-Tf injection compared to Apo-Tf injection (A) while Zip14 levels decreased in the retinas of IL6 KO eyes injected with Holo-Tf compared to Apo-Tf injection (B). Western analysis for Zip8 – 46 kD (A) and Zip14 – 51 kD (B) on neurosensory retinas from IL6 KO mice injected with Apo-Tf (n=3) or Holo-Tf (n=3). Loading control α-tubulin (57 kDa).
