FIG 4 — Recognition of S. Typhi O-antigen by serum in a murine immunization model depends on the O-antigen composition of the immunizing strain. In an LPS Western blot, LPSs from different strains were probed with serum from mice immunized with either Sty-Basal (A) or STy-FM (B). Panel A1 shows the reactivity of pooled serum from the PBS-immunized control group, and each following panel (panels 2 to 10) represents serum from an individual mouse. Panel B1 shows the reactivity of commercial OMA serum, which recognizes several Salmonella serovars; each following panel represents serum from an individual mouse. Lanes 1 to 4 in each panel show LPS from the following strains, respectively: STy-Basal, STy-Acetyl, STy-Gluc, and STy-FM.
