Relationship between Reelin-expressing hepatic stellate cells and cells of ductular reaction. Cells with the morphological features of progenitor cells (CK19-positive cells that are isolated or grouped in strings, open arrowheads) were seen close to Reelin positive hepatic stellate cells (closed arrowheads) in the periportal area with ductular reaction (A). A positive correlation was found between the number of Reelin-positive hepatic stellate cells and the ductular reaction score (r=0.3, P<0.05, B). Original magnification: X400; scale bar: 20 µm.
