Lutein (L), violaxanthin (V), antheraxanthin (A), zeaxanthin (Z) and xanthophyll cycle pool (VAZ) were expressed as mmol mol–1 Chl; the de-epoxidation state of VAZ-pool (DEPS, %); chlorophyll a+ b (Chla+ b) and carotene (Car) were expressed as mg g–1 FW.
