Lack of relationship between recording depth and decoding (left) and between recording depth and decoding heterogeneity (right). Even though precise laminar information and neuronal type identity was not a focus of our study, the absence of relationship between decoding and recording depth strongly suggested (Pearson linear correlation test and Kruskal Walis test, see text) that there was no relationship between decoding performance and laminar location.
