Intestinal motility index (IMI) on alive and dead patients diagnosed with chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction. The IMI corresponded to the product of the contractions frequency and mean amplitude. In comparing the manometric parameters of the patients who died with alive patients, IMI was 2.8 ± 0.9 vs 12.1 ± 1.8 (**P = 0.007). The 9 patients who died had a severe myopathic compromise.
