The Koz1 virus causes severe pancreatic and myocardial pathology. The pancreata and hearts of the Koz1 virus-infected mice, known to contain abundant virus (see Fig. 3), were evaluated for histopathologic changes. Paraffin sections (5 μm) were prepared and stained with hematoxylin and eosin (pancreata, top row) or trichrome (hearts, bottom row). Representative samples from both tissues are shown for the three time points indicated above each tissue pair and for uninfected tissues. A 20× objective lens was used.
