Fig 8

Hair bundles in affected animals are polarised and uniformly oriented and appear similar to those in normal animals. A,B: Affected animal P1. Stereocilia increase in height in one direction across the bundle. All bundles are oriented the same way. B. In most bundles kinocilia are behind the longest row of stereocilia (arrows), even in those which are most immature, but in some other bundles the kinocilium is towards the “back” side of the bundle, but surrounded by stereocilia. C. Affected animal P3. Stereocilia (and kinocilia) have lengthened and there are clear height gradients in the bundle. D. Affected animal P42. Height gradients in stereocilia, longest stereocilia greatly lengthened. E. Normal P6. Scale bars: A-E 1μm.
