Complementation tests. Growth rates values are shown relative to the WT strains carrying the empty plasmid: for S. cerevisiae 0.23 hr⁻¹ and 0.15 hr⁻¹; for L. kluyveri, 0.12 hr⁻¹ and 0.07 hr⁻¹; for K. lactis, 0.35 hr⁻¹ and 0.14 hr⁻¹ on glucose and ethanol, respectively. In all cases, standard deviations of at least three independent cultures were less than three percent. For ectopic expression, the plasmid pRS416 was used for S. cerevisiae, the pL k‐EE for L. kluyveri and the YEpKD352 for K. lactis as described in Experimental procedures
