Survival stratified by spirometric decline pattern and parametric response mapping (PRM) of functional small airways disease (PRMfSAD). FEV1 First patients (presenting with isolated decline in FEV1) with PRMfSAD greater than or equal to 30% have an average survival similar to Concurrent patients (presenting with simultaneous decline in both FEV1 and FVC) (2.5 ± 0.6 vs. 1.8 ± 0.6 yr; average difference, 0.67 yr; P = 0.42). FEV1 First patients with PRMfSAD less than 30% on average live longer than both Concurrent patients (P = 0.0005) and FEV1 First patients with PRMfSAD greater than or equal to 30% (P = 0.004).
