mpa1 is required for respiratory growth of S. pombe. (A) Deletion of mpa1 results in slow growth on YES medium, and failure to grow on non-fermentable carbon sources. The Δmpa1 mutant does not exhibit synthetic growth defects with the Δppr10 mutant. Experiments were performed as in Figure 1A. (B) Loss of mpa1 renders cells extraordinarily sensitive to antimycin A. The experiments were performed as in Figure 1B. (C) mpa1 is required for cell survival in stationary phase. The experiments were performed as in Figure 1E.
