Northern blot analysis of RNA III expression in WT RN6390 and its htrA mutants. Total RNAs were extracted from late-exponential-phase cultures of the RN6390 WT, htrA1 (A1), htrA2 (A2), htrA1 htrA2 (A1A2), and agr (negative control) strains. One hundred micrograms of total RNA from each strain was analyzed by Northern blotting with an RNA III-specific probe. The position of RNA III is indicated by an arrow. Results from two experiments were identical.
