High-density lipoprotein prevents cellular binding and uptake of S-form LPS at higher concentrations of LBP. CHO/CD14 cells were incubated with 100 ng of Oregon Green-labeled S-form LPS/ml in the absence (full line) or presence (dotted line) of human serum or in the presence of 300 μg of HDL/ml (striped line) for 60 min and assayed for LPS uptake by flow cytometry. Experiments were performed twice, and one representative experiment is shown.
