Uptake and trafficking of LL-37 in A549 epithelial cells. A549 cells were incubated with either (A) brefeldin A, to inhibit endocytosis, (B) cytochalasin D, to disrupt actin polymerization, or (C) nocodazole, a microtubule-disrupting agent, prior to incubation with 10 μg of LL-37B/ml (2.2 μM) for 4 h. Cells were prepared for immunofluorescence as described in Materials and Methods.
