Paricalcitol enhanced Akt phosphorylation and inhibited p65 NF-κB phosphorylation via an EP4-dependent pathway in mice kidney with IR injury. (a) Paricalcitol further enhanced Akt phosphorylation in renal IR injury, but cotreatment with paricalcitol and AH-23848 significantly suppressed this effect. (b) p65 NF-κB phosphorylation was increased in mice kidney with IR injury, and paricalcitol significantly prevented its phosphorylation. This inhibitory effect of paricalcitol was offset by cotreatment with AH-23848. P < 0.05 versus sham group, P < 0.05 versus IR group, and P < 0.05 versus IR + Pari group; n = 6–8 for each group.
