Deer brain lipids can be extracted and inhibit RT-QuIC. (A) Ethanol precipitation removes white-tailed deer brain lipids. The ethanol extraction protocol was used to remove lipids from CWD⁻ brain homogenate. The removed lipids were added to ethanol-precipitated CWD⁺ brain homogenate (green) and inhibited the reaction at 10⁻¹ and 10⁻² dilutions with amyloid formation kinetics comparable to those with 10% brain homogenate (blue). The data are displayed as means and SEM from 2 experiments with 8 replicates. (B) Total brain lipids inhibit lymph node-seeded RT-QuIC.
