Visualization of a virtual glioblastoma tumor growth in vivo on a coronal slice at various time points. For simplicity and clarity reasons, only the brain is shown. The initial condition of Figure 9 is considered. Denoting the color intensity–level logarithmic function of c by I(c), the corresponding equation is I=klog10c, where the constant k=255/log10cmax and cmax stands for the maximum value of tumor cell population which is observed during the experiment. The threshold for tumor visualization has been taken to be equal to 1cell/mm3. The bright contour loop generated on the upper raw corresponds to the tomographically detectable tumor boundary at a detection level of 8000cells/mm3.
