Human neutrophils (PMNs) constitutively express different forms of vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF) and angiopoietins. (A) VEGFA_165a, VEGFA_165b, VEGFB, VEGFC, VEGFD, Ang1, and Ang2 mRNA expression in PMNs. The results are the mean ± SD of four different preparations of PMNs. RNA extraction from resting PMNs and RT-PCR was performed as described under Section “Materials and Methods.” (B) Detection of VEGF and Ang proteins. Freshly isolated PMNs were lysed in Tryton 0.1%, and the concentrations of VEGFs and Angs were determined by ELISA. The results are the mean ± SD of six different preparations of PMNs.
