Human neutrophils (PMNs) constitutively express different forms of vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF) and angiopoietins. (A) VEGFA165a, VEGFA165b, VEGFB, VEGFC, VEGFD, Ang1, and Ang2 mRNA expression in PMNs. The results are the mean ± SD of four different preparations of PMNs. RNA extraction from resting PMNs and RT-PCR was performed as described under Section “Materials and Methods.” (B) Detection of VEGF and Ang proteins. Freshly isolated PMNs were lysed in Tryton 0.1%, and the concentrations of VEGFs and Angs were determined by ELISA. The results are the mean ± SD of six different preparations of PMNs.
