The PMN elastase was quantified by ELISA. Plasma samples were added to a microwell plate coated with polyclonal antibody to human PMN elastase and incubated for 1 hour. (A) Data show that, at baseline, the elastase release was similar in XLA and HD and that after E. coli stimulation, it rapidly increased. (B) After the IVIg infusion, PMN maintained their degranulation ability. Only one patient showed a high PMN elastase release, at baseline (gold). Concentrations were expressed as ng/ml. •p = 0.028; ••p = 0.027.
