Extrusions prolong survival of Chlamydia bacteria in dendritic cells. C57BL/6 BMDCs were exposed to C. trachomatis LGV L2 extrusions or dose-matched free bacteria. At the indicated hours postexposure, DCs were lysed by sonication and used to infect McCoy cell monolayers for quantification of IFUs.
