Schematic illustration of the experiment for investigating the relationship between cleavage and compaction timings and developmental competence. Mouse 2-cell embryos were cultured to blastocyst and outgrowth stages, and embryonic development was monitored for 7 days (from 1.5 to 7.5 dpc).
