In panel A, in the Non-raced dogs the combination of fatty acid (FAO) and NADH-linked substrates (SUIT 1) are required to reach the highest flux rates observed in the titration protocol (J_O2max). However, in the Raced dogs (B), disparities between SUIT1 and SUIT2 are eliminated due to greater oxidation of NADH-derived substrates such that J_O2max can be achieved with NADH-linked substrates only.
