In panel A, in the Non-raced dogs the combination of fatty acid (FAO) and NADH-linked substrates (SUIT 1) are required to reach the highest flux rates observed in the titration protocol (JO2max). However, in the Raced dogs (B), disparities between SUIT1 and SUIT2 are eliminated due to greater oxidation of NADH-derived substrates such that JO2max can be achieved with NADH-linked substrates only.
